Come grab a beer (or two!) from the Twin Cities’ best brewing company and catch some never before seen excerpts of Mathew Janczewski’s newest choreographic work, One Room. On October 16th, Lakes & Legends Brewing Company is partnering with ARENA DANCES to entertain a night of social fun and thrilling teasers.
One Room premieres at the TEK BOX November 7-9th
Audience members will enjoy a full-evening of dance performed by an all-female sextet, against the backdrop of Nils Frahm’s experimental, ethereal and contemplative music. A theme of personal and collective power will prevail, as the dancers negotiate the space around them, and each other, with movement that builds layer by layer, working toward a powerful resolution. Crafted collaboratively between Janczewski and the dancers, the piece is an intentional meditation on a larger social question:
How do we come together in one room, face conflict and negotiate, so that we can find strength as one collective voice? Come ask this question for yourself as you watch selected highlights of the work at Lakes & Legends.
One Room will feature the nuanced work of costume designer Trevor Bowen. Bowen, an up and coming designer for the Twin Cities arts scene, holds an M.F.A in costume design from West Virginia University. He has created pieces for the Contemporary American Theater Festival: Modern Terroism, The Exceptionals, Race, We Are Here and locally for Theatre Latte Da, Mixed Blood and assisted with costuming for the Guthrie theater and Long Wharf theater. Bowen and Janczewski’s creative collaboration has been rooted in communication, a sharing of image inspirations and the weaving of ideas together. Pints & Previews will share a first look at Bowen’s creations for One Room, and you may even walk out with a sketch as artwork of its own.
