Currently, Heather Klopchin is an Associate Professor of Dance at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN where she teaches Ballet Technique, Dance History, and Senior Career Seminar. She has taught both modern and jazz dance technique as well and choreographs for the St. Olaf Dance Department’s student company. Heather holds a BS degree in Management from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo and an MFA degree in Dance choreography and performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Heather is passionate about performing, choreographing, researching, and teaching dance. Highlights of her career to date include performing in works by Joe Chvala, David Dorfman, Doris Humphrey, Mathew Janczewski, Walter Kennedy, Linda Lehovec, Mark Morris, Anthony Roberts, and Renée Wadleigh. Heather has performed with ARENA Dances for the past two years and enjoys working with the company. She has also performed with the companies Linda Lehovec & Dancers and Joe Chvala Flying Foot Forum in several shows and will be performing with Robin Stiehm’s Dancing People Company in Oregon this winter. Heather plans to be dancing and choreographing as much as possible during her sabbatical during the 2007-08 academic year.
